生於紐約市，成長於中國大陸，一九七八年初回到美國。曾任教於美國國務院外交學院，並致力於中國語言文字學，中國大陸政經、地理、人文及中國文學教學、研習、翻譯與介紹。一九八二年開始中文寫作，長篇小說《折射》由幼獅文化公司出版。所寫小說、散文刊於《聯合報》、《美國世界曰報》、《中華曰報》、《中央曰報》等副刊。
