1971年生，天蠍座。台大外文系畢業，英國薩克斯大學（University of Sussex）英國文學碩士，香港中文大學文化研究博士，2010年起就任國立中興大學「人文與社會科學研究中心」博士後研究員。出版多部文學創作與評論文集，獲全球華人科幻小說獎、國家文化藝術基金會文學創作獎助金、臺灣文學館臺灣文學翻譯出版補助等。
出版作品計有論述/散文集《魔鬼筆記》、《酷異劄記》、《倒掛在網路上的蝙蝠》，《魔道御書房》與《光幻諸次元註釋本》；短篇小說集《肢解異獸》、《異端吸血鬼列傳》、《在玻璃懸崖上走索》、《復返於世界的盡頭》、《銀河滅》、《黑太陽賦格》（日文版的中短篇小說精選，翻譯進行中）；長篇小說包括《末日玫瑰雨》、《不見天日的向日葵》、【宇宙奧狄賽】系列共六冊。近期譯作《銀翼殺手》（Blade Runner）、《黑暗的左手》（The Left Hand of Darkness）、《女身男人》（The Female Man）、《少年吸血鬼阿曼德》（The Vampire Armand）、《世界誕生之日：諸物語》。
