上世紀末開展之三峽工程，為近代中國最重要之水利項目；法國華裔攝影家曾年在施工期間十多年，以攝影與訪談，將當地人民生活、文物保存與經濟發展之變貌一一紀錄下來；此攝影故事集，嘗試提醒讀者一些不要遺忘的「三峽人和事」。
曾年，祖籍湖南邵陽武岡，1954年生於江蘇無錫，在南京長大。後來移居北京再移居法國巴黎。1971年至1982年，在南京港擔任水手。自1985年起，曾年決心以攝影為職業。曾經與Sipa Press、Contact Press Images和Gamma Press合作。同時為《巴黎競賽》、《費加羅週刊》、《德國地理》、《法國地理》、《紐約時報週刊》、《英國獨立報週刊》、《瑪利嘉兒》法文版、《時代週刊》、《美國國家地理》法文版等刊物撰稿。獲得過多次國際攝影獎項。近年來，曾年轉向攝影出版和展覽。
