花蓮在四月發生規模7.2強震後餘震不斷，網路訊息堆積成恐懼，全島彷彿都與花蓮暫時保持距離。距離引發過多猜測和情緒，於是震後79天，我們去花蓮。
少了人潮的花蓮，觀光名店不需排隊，市區危樓拆除後留下幾叢禿地，重新開業的店主們互相造訪問候。生活在此的人說，花蓮是性格不強烈、容易讓人留下來的地方，它的剛好造就了安逸；而地震鬆動了不夠堅定的本質和意志，激發幽默以待困境的韌性。我們遇見被迫停下喘息的花蓮，好像有些什麼在從焦慮中清醒，如同自然釋放能量的定律般重整節奏，已經有些什麼變得不同。
