明清时期是回族不断发展壮大的时期，也是回族文学逐步繁荣的时期。明清时期云南地区涌现出数量相当的回族文学家，并呈现出“大分散”、“小聚居”的地域分布特征，与我国回族的地域分布格局相一致。本书在此大背景下以古代回族文学为研究对象，以地域文化为视角，运用文学地理学、民族学等学理，以个案研究为基础，对地域文化与古代回族文学关系加以观照和诠释，以期丰富少数民族文学的研究。
